Agatha - Disaster in San Antonio Palopó, Guatemala

* We were able to find 9 families rooms with use of water and bathroom.

* We were able to buy 45 beds and pass those out in San Antonio Palopó to families who lost everything.

Thank you all for your generous donations. so much more is needed.

The new school was just missed by the slide. There were enormous rocks hurtling down into the houses where over 20 of the towns inhabitants lost their life's. Tropical storm Agatha left us with a community disaster, we are coordinating what we can and need help in the form of donations. More updates will be available the coming months.

- 364 families were affected by tropical storm Agatha.
- The women and girls urgently need new tipical clothing. It is very costly, about Q1,000 per person. Some have what they were wearing, others not even that.

Photos of the building (below) that has been rented by the Muni for two years so the 515 children will be able to finish school this year and the next until the new school is built. The old school walk way was taken out by the mudslide and the school is not safe for the children to attend as there is a huge rock up above that the parents are afraid will bury their children in another mudslide.

Miracles In Action (an organization that helps poor families to help themselves
through education, vocation, and sustainable projects) started a campaign to raise $20.000 dollars through "Chase community giving" and succeeded. This will be matched with a generous donation from the Carson Foundation, for a total of $40,000 for the School in San Antonio, Guatemala.

Vanessa from Louisiana brought all these school supplies for the San Antonio Palopó School; she fixed a bag full of supplies for all 515 children and 22 specially for the teachers. She also brought about 400 books for the new library that we are setting up together in San Antonio. We hope to hold a fundraiser to help buy more books for this library. Thank you so much Vanessa for all that you’re doing to help with this project.
